Throwing Muses announce first Australian tour in over 15 years

American alt-rockers Throwing Muses are making their long-awaited return to Australia this year, hitting Rosemount Hotel on Friday, December 12.

On their first Australian tour in over 15 years, the band will arrive with new material from their new album Moonlight Concessions, which is out next Friday, March 14 via Fire Records.

Moonlight Concessions is described as a “back to basics” return for Throwing Muses, showcasing their esoteric, off-kilter best, courtesy of Kristin Hersh‘s pin-sharp sketches and their suitably abrasive musical arrangements. The new album follows on from their acclaimed Sun Racket record from 2020.

Formed by Kristin Hersh with high school friends in Rhode Island in 1981, the band—currently consisting of Kristin Hersh, David Narcizo and Bernard Georges—pioneered a new alternative sound, releasing a string of critically celebrated albums including their 1986 self-titled debut, 1988’s House Tornado, and 1991’s The Real Romana.

The Throwing Muses tour follows on from a run of Australian solo performances from Kristin Hersh, which also features a Rosemount Hotel date next Tuesday, March 11.

Throwing Muses’ new album Moonlight Concessions is out on Friday, March 14. Throwing Muses play Rosemount Hotel on Friday, December 12, 2025. Tickets are on sale now from troubadourpresents.com
