The Rubens announce new single, album and national Group Therapy tour

Aussie alt-rockers The Rubens have announced a new single, Love Me America, alongside news of a new album and a massive 14-date national tour.

To celebrate the release of Love Me America and the band’s sixth studio album, Group Therapy, the band is set to bring their Group Therapy Tour to Freo.Social in Fremantle on Thursday, December 3, and The River in Margaret River on Friday, December 4.

The five-piece will also bring the tour to Sydney, Adelaide, Mt Gambier, Coolum, Brisbane, D’Aguilar, Castlemaine, Melbourne, Barwon Heads, Hobart, Forth and Wagga Wagga.

The upcoming tour will see The Rubens perform new tracks from Group Therapy live, including Goanna and Are You Getting High, as well as fan favourites and deep cuts.

Group Therapy is set for release on Friday, October 16, with its opening track, Love Me America, out today. Featuring acoustic passages and vibrant storytelling, Love Me America was inspired by the band’s early experiences in America working with major labels.

“We naively ventured to New York to make our first record. It was terrifying, exciting, a blur, and our introduction to a country that has fascinated us ever since,” singer Sam Margin said. “Love Me America is a love song to America, but not a simple one.”

Made up of Margin brothers, Zaac, Sam and Elliott, and long-term friends Scott Baldwin and William Zeglis, The Rubens were formed in 2011 in Menangle, NSW. By 2012, the five-piece group had released their self-titled debut album and were named triple J’s Unearthed Artist of the Year. Across their fifteen-year-long career, the band has achieved five ARIA Top 5 albums, multiple Gold and Platinum singles and has amassed over 350 million streams and 250,000 physical albums.
