The original voice of The Stranglers, Hugh Cornwell, announces Australian tour

Hugh Cornwell, the original singer, guitarist and principal songwriter of English punk rock band The Stranglers will embark on an Australian tour with his band this June.

As the main songwriter of The Stranglers, he composed many of the band’s most memorable songs across ten albums, including the 1982 single Golden Brown.

Cornwell and his band will play Castlemaine, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide before stopping in Perth to play Rosemount Hotel on Friday, June 19.

Beyond The Stranglers, Cornwell has also built a body of impressive solo albums. His tenth solo album, Moments of Madness, continues his experimentation across genres whilst still showcasing his classic lyric writing.

His double live album, All the Fun of the Fair, was released in October 2024, showcasing gems from Cornwell’s solo catalogue alongside Stranglers’ classics while capturing the energy of Cornwell’s live performance.

Hugh Cornwell plays Rosemount Hotel on Friday, June 19, 2026. Tickets are on sale now from troubadourpresents.com
