Things of Stone and Wood hit the road with new single, album and national tour dates

Aussie folk rockers Things of Stone and Wood are set to return after their first album in 23 years, announcing a new double A-sided single, You’d Gone before You Went/The Windmills Turn and a string of national tour dates.

The new single comes ahead of the ARIA and APRA Award-winning band’s new album, Rae Street, set for release on Friday, February 20, via MGM.

To celebrate the album release, the band are set to kick off a national tour, with three WA shows at Ellington Jazz Club on Wednesday, March 11; The River in Margaret River on Thursday, March 12; and Clancy’s Fish Pub Fremantle on Friday, March 12.

The band are then set to play shows in Brisbane, Nambour, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Bendigo.

Fans can expect to hear the band’s new tracks, You’d Gone before You Went/The Windmills Turn, which sees Things of Stone and Wood embrace a new millennium folk aesthetic. You’d Gone before You Went features minimalist instrumentation and lush backing vocals, whilst The Windmills Turn is a rollicking and playful sing-along track.

Formed in 1989 in Melbourne, Things of Stone and Wood are best known for their hits Happy Birthday Helen, Share This Wine, In Our Home and Churchill’s Black Dog. Across their three-decade-long career, they’ve achieved two top ten albums, have toured Australia and the world, and have won ARIA and APRA songwriting awards.

Things of Stone and Wood bring their Rae Street Tour to Ellington Jazz Club on Wednesday, March 11; The River in Margaret River on Thursday, March 12; and Clancy’s Fish Pub Fremantle on Friday, March 12, 2026. Tickets are on sale now from thingsofstoneandwood.com
