State of Play program: A smorgasbord of Fringe World treats

It’s all fun and games at the State Theatre Centre of WA as the award-winning independent Fringe Hub, STATE OF PLAY, returns this summer. This year’s program is bursting at the seams with a smorgasbord of entertainment, with everything from music to cabaret, comedy to theatre, and dance to interactive experiences.

With over 30 shows from local, national, and international artists to choose from, there’s something for everyone—from your Nan to your hard-to-please teen and even the kids.

From Friday, January 20 to Sunday, February 4, the State Theatre Centre will be transformed into an exciting hub that includes comedians Tom Gleeson, Geraldine Hickey, and Luke Heggie through to Bogan Shakespeare, everyone’s favourite Doctor—Dr. Ahmed and his brand new show, music from Adam Hall, and interactive shows for the kids, including The Little Hoo-Haa and Sun-Runners (an intergalaxy experience for kids up to 12 years), to name a few.

On top of a stacked program, the State Theatre Centre of WA boasts a premier location in the heart of Northbridge, with the STATE OF PLAY bars serving up some local brews along with plenty of non-alcoholic drink options, all presented in A1 air-conditioning comfort during these roasting hot weeks.

State Theatre Centre of WA’s STATE OF PLAY Fringe World program runs from Friday, January 19 to Sunday, February 4, 2024. For more info and to buy tickets, head to artsculturetrust.wa.gov.au
