Splendour in the Grass 2024 has been cancelled

One of Australia’s biggest music festivals, Splendour in the Grass, has been cancelled in 2024. The news comes less than a week after general release tickets went on sale last Thursday, March 21.

The July event has been attracting as many as 50,000 festivalgoers to its home in Byron Bay for over twenty years. Kylie Minogue, G-Flip, Future, and Arcade Fire were set to headline this year’s festival in North Byron Parklands from Friday, July 19 to Sunday, July 21.

Last year’s festival, headlined by Lizzo, Flume, and Mumford & Sons, failed to sell out, with the festival recording a 30% drop in ticket sales. This came after several difficult years of COVID-related restrictions and border closures, while in 2022, the festival’s first day was cancelled due to flooding.

The news follows a series of other recent festival cancellations, including national all-ages music festival Groovin the Moo and Western Australia’s own Fairbridge Festival.
