Director Julius Avery – whose short film Jerrycan received a Cannes Jury Award – has drawn on his childhood Wheatbelt experiences and turned them into a stone-cold crime thriller. JR (Brendan Thwaites) is 19 when he winds up in prison for a relatively minor crime. Seeking protection, he allies with Brendan Lynch (Ewan McGregor), who enlists his services in a multi-million dollar Kalgoorlie gold heist.
