POW! NEGRO Announce Debut EP Jasmine & Licorice

POW! Negro are one of the country’s best up and coming acts. They release hard hitting singles and always perform a trailblazing live set. Today they have announced their long awaited debut EP titled Jasmine & Licorice.

The EP will feature recently released singles Hidle Ho! and Money For Portraits and will be available from July 28 from Bandcamp, using a pay what you wish basis. It is also available to pre order on iTunes.

Jasmine & Licorice also features production work from David Kennedy (A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def) and Michael Jelinek (The Growl). It showcases POW! Negro’s melting pot style of hip hop, jazz and psych.

EP highlight Hold My Tongue sees drummer/composer Rhys Hussey come to the front with his soulful vocals perfectly complimenting charismatic frontman Nelson Mondlane’s lyrical spitfire. Pre ordering the EP from iTunes will come with an instant download of this track.

Having already played with the likes of Remi, Sampa the Great, Koi Child, and Blackalicious, and been apart of festival line ups such as Groovin the Moo and Southbound, POW! Negro will also be showcasing at Bigsound in September.

You can catch them at their Jasmine & Licorice EP Launch Shows on Thursday July 27 at the Prince of Wales, Bunbury, Friday July 28 at Clancy’s, Dunsborough and Saturday, July 29 at the Rosemount Hotel, Perth.
