Popular music festival to skip Perth in 2027

St Jerome’s Laneway Festival has announced this week that the popular annual music festival won’t be returning to Perth for its 2027 edition.

Laneway Festival’s team announced the news via an Instagram post yesterday morning, adding that the festival will also not be heading to Adelaide next year.

“To our Adelaide and Perth friends, we know this will be disappointing. In 2027, Laneway will be taking a break in your cities,” the Laneway Festival team said.

The team cited logistical reasons and remoteness as reasons the festival won’t be heading west next year.

“For over two decades, we’ve had the pleasure of bringing Laneway to Australia and New Zealand, with stints in Singapore and Detroit too. Running so many shows, so close together, across so much ground is a logistical feat we are proud of, but it also asks a lot of our lineup and crew,” the team said.

“Taking a pause allows us to focus on making the festival the best it can be, while freeing up time for more artists to bring headline shows to cities beyond our festival stops.”

Laneway Festival hasn’t skipped Perth as a tour stop since 2009, though it previously took breaks in 2021 and 2022 due to COVID-19.

Despite the news, the Laneway Festival team has reassured fans of their plans to bring the festival back to Perth in the future.

“Adelaide and Perth, we love you! We are incredibly grateful to every single person who has shown up for us over the years. This isn’t goodbye, just see you soon,” the team said.

The festival is still set to land in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland for its 2027 edition.

Laneway Festival hit Arena Joondalup on Sunday, February 15, earlier this year, and featured performances by global superstars Chappell Roan, PinkPantheress and Role Model.
