Phil Jamieson cancels national tour after on-stage accident

Australian singer-songwriter and Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson has cancelled his 2026 PJ AIR Tour following an on-stage accident.

The musician shared the news with fans via an Instagram post yesterday.

“On Friday night I slipped on stage, and my spine connected to the drum riser. I was unable to continue with the gig and got an ambulance to Latrobe Hospital,” Jamieson said. “I spent most of Friday in emergency getting different tests, etc., and by 4am I was confirmed to have fractured my L1 (lower back guy), with a prescription of bed rest and a long road to recovery.

“This means, sigh, that the tour is cancelled,” Jamieson said. “No one is more bummed about this than me, but I can’t stand up let alone play a gig at the moment.”

The singer-songwriter was set to play four major shows across WA, at Mojos Bar on Thursday, August 27; Froth Craft Brewery on Friday, August 28; The River on Saturday, August 29; and Indian Ocean Hotel on Sunday, August 30.

Venues and ticketing agencies are set to be in touch with ticketholders to issue refunds.

The tour cancellation news comes ahead of the release of Phil Jamieson’s highly anticipated sophomore album, 10Charlie, out on Friday, August 14, via ORiGiN Recordings.

“Album is still out on Friday,” Jamieson said. “While we won’t be launch partying together anymore… if you feel like wrapping your earholes around it, I would be grateful. Lots of work went into it and I love it.”

Jamieson also took time to thank his team at Latrobe Regional Hospital and added that he hoped to see fans back on tour soon.
