Perth’s newest heavy music festival bows out after one year
The team behind Froth & Fury Fest has announced that the popular heavy and punk music festival won’t be returning to Perth for its 2027 edition.
The Froth & Fury team announced the news via a Facebook post this morning, citing lower-than-expected ticket sales and rising costs of hosting a festival in WA.
“Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision that Froth & Fury Fest Perth will not be going ahead in 2027,” the Froth & Fury team said. “After an incredible day in Perth, we genuinely hoped to return and build on what was started. The support, energy and response from the WA music community meant a huge amount to us, and we are truly sorry that we cannot bring the festival back in 2027.”
Froth & Fury first launched in Adelaide amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, and in 2026, organisers expanded the festival for the first time, bringing it to Perth HPC on Saturday, January 24. The line-up included massive heavy acts such as Polaris, Soulfly, Nailbomb, Frenzal Rhomb, Private Function and many more.
The Froth & Fury team explained that as an “independent, fan-made and fan-owned festival”, the long-term future of Froth & Fury was the highest priority, and they “simply did not reach the turnout numbers required” to continue hosting it in WA.
“Combined with the rising costs involved in delivering a festival of this scale in WA, it is unfortunately too great a financial risk for us to take on again at this stage,” the team said.
The Froth & Fury team also expressed their gratitude to the Soundworks Touring crew and their CEO, Brad Wesson, for helping bring the festival to WA. “Their support, passion and hard work played a huge part in making the Perth event happen, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they put into it,” the team said.
Despite the news, the Froth & Fury team hope to bring the festival back to Perth in the future.
“To everyone who bought a ticket, came out, played, worked, shared a post, backed us, or helped make the Perth event happen—thank you. We are genuinely grateful for the first chapter we were able to create together,” they said. “We hope this is not the end of the story—just a pause until we can return.”
Froth & Fury Fest has announced this week that it will not be returning to Perth in 2027.
