Following Russell Brand‘s cancellation and an instance of Coronavirus during West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s Absolute Beethoven event on the weekend, the Perth Concert Hall has issued a statement hosing down any hysteria, assuring us they’re “open for business as usual”.
The Perth woman had been tested for Coronavirus the day before and was awaiting her results when she attended the Perth Concert Hall to watch a WASO event last Saturday. Early Sunday morning the woman tested positive to the virus.
Perth Concert Hall has stated that “The venue has been thoroughly cleaned based on the advice of the health authorities,” and “is operating normally and remains open to the public.”
Chief Executive Officer of WASO Mark Coughlan has released a statement regarding the issue, saying, “We are disappointed to receive this news and our thoughts are with the patron and their family as they work through this difficult time. The safety of our staff, musicians and patrons is always our priority. We are taking immediate action in the best interests of our patrons and people.”
Comedian and actor Russel Brand, pulled out of his sold out show scheduled for last night, tweeting: “I am not happy with the risk for me or for any of you. My apologies, I hope I see you soon.”
However, Perth Concert Hall have assured that “all other events are proceeding as normal including all of WASO’s 2020 concerts in the coming weeks.”
