Pagan neo-folk collective Heilung return to Australian shores

European experimental folk band Heilung are bringing their Heilung Eldgeitfardha World Tour to Australia in 2027.

Heilung will return to Perth’s Red Hill Auditorium on Friday, March 12 for the tour, which also stops in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney.

German-American singer-songwriter Lilith Max joins Heilung for all dates except Sydney.

Fans can expect live rituals that are an ensemble of warriors, elaborate costumes, ancient instruments, incense, hypnotic percussion, and powerful vocal performances. Every ritual begins with an ancient prayer, led by founding member Kai Uwe Faust, before the collective, comprised of vocalist Maria Franz and producer Christopher Juul, perform their songs.

“With singing these primordial songs we want to give tribute to these cultures, reconnect to the beginnings, and remember that we all, from East to West, from past to present, are connected through the exchange of ideas and inspiring each other,” said Faust.

Since emerging in 2015, Heilung have described their work as “amplified history,” drawing upon the sounds, traditions, and spiritual practices of early civilisations to create a world of hypnotic percussion, haunting vocals, throat singing, ancient instruments, and powerful visual ceremony.

On Heilung’s last visit to WA in 2024, our live review described their performance as “a deeply moving and unique experience that demanded immersion, where all senses are engaged to fully appreciate its trance-like beauty.”
