Aussie rockers Goanna have announced a national tour to celebrate 40 years of their acclaimed, multi-platinum debut album Spirit of Place and the album’s iconic first single Solid Rock. These will be the group’s first full-band shows in over 20 years.
The 40th Anniversary tour will kick off in June and go through to December taking in all capital cities and major regions, with 25 already announced and more to be added. The band’s Western Australian visit includes shows at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, September 27; Albany Entertainment Centre on Thursday, September 29; and Queens Park Theatre, Geraldton on Saturday, October 1.
Released in September 1982, Spirit of Place‘s first single Solid Rock highlighted injustices suffered by Australia’s indigenous peoples. Solid Rock reached No.1 nationally and remained in the Top 50 for 26 weeks. Spirit Of Place followed in December and debuted on the Melbourne charts at #1, going on to achieve 4 x platinum sales.
In 2022, the core trio of Goanna – Shane Howard, Rose Bygrave, and Marcia Howard – together with Spirit of Place guitarist Graham Davidge and several special guests, embark on a new journey, paying homage to their classic songs and reigniting the Goanna spirit once more.
Goanna’s 40th Anniversary Tour for Spirit of Place hits Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, September 27; Albany Entertainment Centre on Thursday, September 29; and Queens Park Theatre, Geraldton, on Saturday, October 1. For more info and to buy tickets head to www.lovepolice.com.au
