Finn Pearson lights up WA venues with new single and tour dates

Award-winning Western Australian singer-songwriter Finn Pearson has announced a run of live shows in support of his new single Tunnel Lights, out Friday, May 15.

Produced and mixed with longtime collaborator Oli Bodlovich, and mastered by James Newhouse, Tunnel Lights sees Pearson continuing to lean into alt-country rock territory, blending atmospheric slide guitar with a grittier instrumental backbone for a track that feels both intimate and expansive.

The tour kicks off at Six Degrees in Albany on Friday, May 15, before heading to Karma Llama Records in Bridgetown on Saturday, May 16. From there, Pearson plays a solo set at Servo Taphouse in Cowaramup on Friday, May 22, before returning to Perth for a full-band show at The Bird in Northbridge on Friday, May 29, joined by Navy June and Jack Hamilton. He then heads south again for a solo performance at Froth Craft Brewery in Bunbury on Saturday, May 30, wrapping up the run of dates at The River in Margaret River on Sunday, May 31.

“Lyrically, Tunnel Lights is a real deep cut for me,” Pearson said. “It’s taken a few years for it to grow and develop. It captures the realisation that a relationship is disintegrating, followed by the post-breakup chaos and the loneliness associated with being suddenly cut loose from the connection with someone.”

“Production-wise, it came together easily. Oli and I leant into a dreamy slide-guitar feel which was underwritten by a grittier guitar bed track than usual. The tricky part was producing an instrumental bed with enough emotional character to back up the vulnerability of the lyrics, but I’m really pleased with how it turned out. The band played beautifully on the recording, and I’m eternally grateful to be surrounded by such fantastic musicians.”

Already a multiple WA Country Music and WAM Award nominee, Pearson has performed at some of the state’s leading festivals, including Wave Rock Weekender, Blues at Bridgetown, Nannup Music Festival and Playmakers. He has also toured extensively across regional WA, sharing stages with artists such as Kingswood, The Audreys, The Southern River Band, Playlunch and Nathan Cavaleri, most recently supporting William Crighton and Eskimo Joe last month.
