This week in Perth’s events, we have some international highlights, our usual throng of local hits, and FRINGE WORLD is in full force. Aside from that, Sunday, January 27 will bring a cool offering of Hottest 100 events all over our city. Our Event Guide has a more extensive list of what’s on this week and further into the future; email us at [email protected] if there’s something you’d like to see listed.
1. Phil Collins
The Genesis frontman and solo legend in his own right is making his way to RAC Arena for a pair of shows on Monday, January 28 and Tuesday, January 29. With quite the back catalogue in his arsenal, we’d suggest you gear up for an epic show.
2. The Prodigy
Best known for 1997’s Breathe, Smack My Bitch Up and Firestarter, The Prodigy are far more than just their hits. The groudbreaking British electronic icons are also blessing the RAC Arena stage with their formidable presence, except tonight is the night!
3. Djuki Mala
Our first Fringe review of 2019 was for this Indigenous dance masterpiece, and it was awarded a rare 10/10 from our resident Fringe-o-phile Natalie Giles. If that wasn’t enough to tempt you, we don’t know what will be. The West Australian Spiegeltent will be hosting the show until FRINGE WORLD’s conclusion – head to their website for details about specific showings.
4. Hottest 100 celebrations
Triple J’s annual countdown of last year’s best tracks will take place on its new date of Sunday, January 27, and with it comes a bunch of celebratory events in Perth. Early birds can head down to the Indian Ocean Hotel at 8.30am for Good Doogs‘ shindig, and Rock Rover and the Rosemount Hotel at 9am.
5. Local launches
This week in local launches we have Friday night offering up Good Grace and Antidote‘s launches, at The Bird and Badlands Bar respectively. The following evening The Bird will continue the streak with Pool Boy‘s single release. Entry is cheap and the vibes are a’plenty – no excuses.
