West Australian songwriter Carus Thompson is making his way through WA with three appearances showcasing his seventh studio album Shakespeare Avenue (out October 4). The singer will kick off in Margaret River playing at The River on Sunday, October 6, move onto Geraldton at Cutler & Smith on Friday, October 11 and finish up at Fremantle’s very own Aardvaark on Friday, October 25.
Interweaving political and social commentary within his personal and human tales, Shakespeare Avenue tackles topics such as violence against woman, a historical narrative about West Australian Indigenous warrior Yagan, and the story of Dylan Voller with depth and a distinctly Australian warmth.
Featuring debut single Avondale Heights To Sunshine, for the recording of this new album Carus travelled to London with his whole family in tow, to work with Mercury nominated producer Sean Lakeman, partner Kathryn Roberts and folk star Seth Lakeman (aka the Virtual Folk Dynasty).
