Blur’s Alex James brings Britpop Classical tour to Australia
Following a sold-out run of shows across the UK, Blur bassist Alex James is set to bring his Britpop Classical tour to Australia.
The one-of-a-kind live experience will kick off on the Gold Coast before heading to Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney, and closing out at Perth’s Riverside Theatre on Thursday, November 12.
Led by James, the shows will feature cameos from special guests while reimagining the generation-defining songs of Blur, Oasis and Pulp to Supergrass and The Verve through classical arrangements performed by local orchestras alongside a live band.
James has created the concept himself, saying that “somehow all of these songs mean more to people now than they did when they were first released. Bringing them back to life with a symphony orchestra, a kick-ass band, some old friends and very special guests has been brilliant—and I absolutely cannot wait to get this show to Australian audiences.”
Audiences can expect familiar anthems from the golden age of British music transformed by the new symphonic format, making for an unforgettable night for original fans and new listeners.
Alex James’ Britpop Classical tour hits the Riverside Theatre on Thursday, November 12, 2026. Tickets are on sale Friday, April 24, 2026, at mellenevents.com
