Last Friday saw the launch of the Civc Band Comp with Round 1 featuring bands Roses For Ghosts, Shangrila, St James Sirens and Bayview Suspect taking to the stage, with Bayview Suspects emerging the winners!
We had a quick chat to them after the win..
Who are you and what are you doing here?
We are Bayview Suspects a local metal band from Perth, Western Australia. Formed late 2014, the band consists of vocalist John Callaghan, guitarists Brody Lawrance and Tim Farmer, bassist Luke Green, and drummer Luke Specter.
Tell us about your sound?
Brutal riffs and catchy leads. We play music that makes you want to bounce. Our sound is somewhere between Lamb of God and Whitechapel with a twist from Uncle Brody and his Rancid Riffs!
None of us listen to the same metal so the one thing our band can never agree on is a song to cover, although we come up with a very unique sound in the metal we write because of all the different influences in the band.
What is Bayview Suspect all bout?
We are a bunch of chilled out dudes who get wasted, play cricket at the jam space and complain loudly when we throw the balls on the roof. Superfreak Studios is our aforementioned cricket pitch; we spend more time there than we do at home… But they have a killer coffee machine, so it’s all good!
What is coming up for you in 2016?
We will be releasing our EP To Whom It May Concern this March.
Round 2 of the Civic Band Comp takes place this Friday, July 8 at The Civic Hotel in Ingelwood with Nautical Mile, Conform, Tumultum, Illyria and Aviscerus competing for their spot in the semi finals.
