To accompany his album of soul and gospel works, The Merri Soul Sessions, Australian musical icon – hell, national treasure, if we’re being honest – Paul Kelly has announced a national tour through January and February 2015.
The tour will see Kelly perform with his long-serving touring band, as well as guest vocalists including Dan Sultan, Clairy Browne, Kira Peru and Linda Bull. Selected shows will be opened by neo-soul outfit Hiatus Kaiyote.
Kelly plays the Sydney Festival Parramatta Opening Party on Friday, January 9; the Summer Of Soul Festival in Mossvale, Victoria on Saturday, January 10; MONA FOMA at Princes Wharf, Hobart, on Friday, January 16; Sundown Sessions at Scarborough Park, Western Australia, on Saturday, January 17; Tamworth Country Music Festival on Wednesday, January 21; Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Thursday, January 22, and Friday, January 23; Adelaide’s Norwood Concert Hall on Friday, January 30; Sydney’s taronga Zoo on Friday, February 6; Melbourne Zoo in Saturday, February 7; and the Darwin Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, February 11.
