Neon Picnic, originally the precursor to RTRFM’s much loved In The Pines music festival, is now an annual family friendly get together at Hyde Park Amphitheatre. Neon Picnic brings the radio to you live on Saturday, March 21 in the amazing surrounds of the Hyde Park Amphitheatre between 11am – 5pm. Entry is FREE and you are welcome to come and go as you like. Pull up a slice of grass, bring a picnic, bring your dog and enjoy local music and our fave Perth radio station live.
The line up for Neon Picnic 2020 includes live sets from loop specialist and violinist Rupert Gunther, one of our favourite local acts of 2019 in the Rinehearts, a Wanjoo To Country from Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse; then later in the afternoon catch the jazzy Gemma Farrell Quintet, the solo stylings of Lucy Peach (pictured above) and the intense magic of The Tommyhawks.
Plus Global Rhythm Pot, Homegrown and Drastic on Plastic presenters joining you live over the airwaves.
Kids are welcome to some special arts and crafts activities from the team at Spaced Out, including their massive Cardboard City. There will also be a special Neon Picnic Drag Story Times with Cougar Morrison, bring the kids and the adults to hear a story.
Plus, the Mums and Dads can relax in the licensed bar thanks to Alby Beer and Olive Grove Wines, or grab a bite from Twin Beaks Burgers and Curb Your Hunger, or grab a coffee and ice cream from Better Beans Coffee and Kuld Creamery. Plus, some of your favourite RTRFM presenters will bake up a treat for the first annual RTRFM Bake Sale.
This year RTRFM has teamed up with Go2Cup to make sure that plastic waste across the day is minimal. All plastic cups will be re-useable and special bins will be provided for the cups to be collected and re-used.
Neon Picnic hits Hyde Park Amphitheatre on Saturday, March 21. Free entry.
