Australian punk titans The Meanies have announced a huge national tour of Australia. To celebrate thirty years as a band, and twenty-five years since the release of their album 10% Weird, the group are poised to bring their signature energetic style to WA with two epic shows. They’ll be playing Rosemount Hotel on Saturday, November 23 with Perth’s own Leeches and Last Quokka, before hitting Indian Ocean Hotel on Sunday, November 24 alongside Dennis Commetti and The Mascara Snakes.
It took a year after forming in 1988 for The Meanies to take their music to the live stage, and since then they’ve played alongside the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and The Beastie Boys. With four albums in their repertoire, the influential pop rockers have cemented themselves in Australia’s punk scene, and have become a major influence for countless bands. Another milestone they’ll be celebrating is 25 years since the release of their LP 10% Weird, which has been widely regarded as their magnum opus.
