It’s festival week in Perth, with two stalwarts, Laneway and Perth Festival, making their way around for another year. Not only that, but Fringe is still going strong, and locals and touring acts alike are abundant city-wide. Take a look at our Event Guide for a better overview of what’s going on this week, and remember that our email ([email protected]) is always open for your suggestions, comments and queries.
Tomorrow (Friday, February 8) marks the kick-off of Perth Festival, which celebrates everything artistic under the sun. Of particular note this week is the beautiful light display that is Boorna Waanginy in Kings Park, as well as Nothing But Thieves playing the Chevron Gardens.
2. Laneway Festival
One national festival that never lets us down is Laneway, and it’s being held once again this Sunday (February 10) at its usual location of the Fremantle Esplanade Reserve & West End. Notable names include Courtney Barnett, Jon Hopkins, Parquet Courts and Gang of Youths.
The iconic Scots are celebrating 30 years of music-making in 2019, and Perth will be a stop on their latest tour this Saturday (February 9). Catch them at Capitol for some fun, nostalgia and undoubtedly a whole lot more.
As FRINGE WORLD continues unabated, 360 Allstars leads a host of new shows as the festival prepares to enter its final week. The breakdance/circus/BMX extravaganza is running from tonight (February 7) through to Sunday at Teatro at the Woodside Pleasure Gardens.
In launches this week we have Space Cassette (pictured) celebrating the release of their Blossoms mixtape tonight (February 7) at The Bird, a new single from The Spunloves at The Bird on Saturday (February 9) and Laurie Luke & the Renegades’ EP launch at the Indian Ocean Hotel also on Saturday. Head out to let them and their supports know how much they’re appreciated.
