24Hour Play Generator returns in 2025

WA Youth Theatre Company’s 24Hour Play Generator is back in 2025, challenging a new wave of young creatives to take original works from page to stage in just one day.

Delivered by WA Youth Theatre Company (WAYTCo) for the ninth consecutive year, the annual event brings together WA writers, directors, and performers for a fast-paced creative sprint. Writers aged 15–26 will take part in a writing day on Saturday, June 7, producing new ten-minute scripts over a 12-hour session where the top six plays will be chosen that night for staging.

This year’s directing team features Humphrey Bower, Elise Wilson, Alexandria Steffensen, Ruby Lorraine, and WAYTCo’s own artistic director Amelia Burke.

The following Saturday, June 14, directors and youth casts will have 12 hours to rehearse and prepare the selected works for performance at 7:30pm that evening on the Subiaco Arts Centre Main Stage.
