2024 ARIA Award nominees revealed

The 2024 ARIA Awards nominees were revealed today, with a stack of Australian artists shortlisted for the coveted award across 29 categories and multiple genres.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday, November 20. The ceremony will be streamed live on Stan and broadcast later on Channel Nine.

Sydney guitar pop duo Royel Otis lead the pack with eight nominations. Made up of Royel Madden and Otis Pavlovic, Royel Otis’ debut album Pratts & Pain debuted at #1 on the ARIA Australian albums chart in February.

Their triple j Like A Version cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s 2001 hit Murder on the Dancefloor was a viral sensation, amassing more than six million views on YouTube and 48 million streams on Spotify.

In their first ARIA Awards, Royel Otis are nominated for Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Independent Release, Best Rock Album, Best Australian Live Act and Song of the Year, while Pratts & Pain producer Chris Collins is up for Best Engineered Release and Best Produced Release.

DJ and producer Dom Dolla also capped off a great year with six nominations. The Melbourne-via-Darwin hitmaker is nominated for Best Solo Artist for his dance floor-filler Saving Up, as well as Best Dance/Electronic Release—the category he won in 2020 for San Frandisco and in 2023 for Rhyme Dust with MK.

Just behind the two leaders, at five nominations each, are international superstar Kylie Minogue and Melbourne singer-songwriter Angie McMahon.

Minogue returned to the charts in the past year with her comeback album Tension and won a Grammy for its lead single, Padam Padam.

Tension has Minogue in the running for five awards, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Solo Artist. The nominations come ahead of the release of her next studio album, Tension II, on Friday, October 18, and her biggest tour in decades.

Angie McMahon rounds out the top nominees with five nods, including Best Solo Artist, Best Independent Release and Album of the Year for her 2023 release Light, Dark, Light Again.

Singer-songwriter Missy Higgins will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame on the night, twenty years after the release of her debut album, The Sound of White.

After taking home four trophies last year, Perth pop sensation Troye Sivan is back with another four nominations, including Best Solo Artist, Album of the Year, Best Pop Release and Song of the Year.

Gold Coast singer-songwriter Amy Shark, electronic act RÜFÜS DU SOL, global hip-hop star The Kid LAROI and Byron Bay hitmaker Tones And I are also in the mix with four nominations each.
