Zoology returns from the wild for one night only performance
Perth theatre company Too Close to the Sun are bringing their contemporary theatre performance, Zoology, back for one night only at Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre on Friday, July 24.
Originally presented by PICA and WA Museum Boola Bardip as a full-length showcase in the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM), Zoology is a striking and moving reflection on the mystery of the natural world, the current extinction crisis, and living up to childhood dreams.
Riffing on zoos, panda diplomacy, Reagan, Thatcher, The Wizard of Oz and more, the play was described as like “waking up from a dream” by WA Museum Boola Bardip Creative Producer Henry Slade.
The show is part performance lecture and part movement work for one woman and two children and was inspired by slides of zoo animals in vibrant 1980s Ektachrome colours, found in a New York City antique shop.
Zoology returns for one night only at Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre on Friday, July 24, 2026. Tickets are on sale now from ticketsearch.com
