XR:WA Free virtual reality experiences in Northbridge

WA’s premiere VR, AR, tech and gaming conference and expo XR:WA have announced their massive 2020 program will be made free this year. This includes a variety of intriguing and immersive events running across multiple venues within the Perth Cultural Centre from Thursday, December 3 to Sunday, December 6 as part of the Revelation Perth International Film Festival.

“We’ve had a tonne of interest from the public, students, professionals and all corners of the games and immersive sector in wanting to attend the event for a bit here and a bit there. Some are well resourced, some have been hit hard by COVID, so we’ve taken the step to level the playing field and provide all events, exhibits, panels and talks free and open access,” says conference director Richard Sowada.

“In a move that’s set to delight new practitioners, the curious and the economically challenged, we’re very proud to bring these great speakers, screenings, ideas and experiences to local audiences,” continues Sowada.

XR:WA is a rare opportunity to explore the innovative business opportunities and potential career paths made possible by modern technology. There is plenty to be fascinated and captivated by in the XR:WA 2020 program including Mark Pesce on the subject of AR; Caitlin Cronin, one of the producers behind the Untitled Goose Game; Alexander Swords in a workshop on 3D storytelling; Sabra Williams (USA) discussing VR and social justice; Mario di Castro (Switzerland), Head of Robotics at CERN and dozens more local, national and international speakers.

XR:WA will run at the Perth Cultural Centre from Thursday, December 3 to Sunday, December 6 as part of the Revelation Perth International Film Festival. To find out more and to register for the event visit xrwa.com.au/register.
