WA Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO) are set to celebrate the power and the beauty of the trombone in their upcoming performance The Trombone: Big Band Backbone.
Trombones are often described as “the backbone of the big band,” providing the harmonic foundation, the brassy punch and the guts of the band.
Going down at Subiaco Arts Centre on Saturday, September 17, the concert features three of WA’s finest trombonists and WAYJO alumni. Jeremy Greig, Catherine Noblet and Will Pethick have all served in different eras of WAYJO, and are coming together to showcase the instrument Beethoven once described as “the voice of God” in a special event.
The guest artists appear thanks to WAYJO’s 2022 Major Programs Partner, Minderoo Foundation.
