SUBURBAN VIBES IN SUBIACO Good vibes

After hosting countless stripped-back performances in venues across Perth, Suburban Vibes returns for another season in Subiaco with 23 must-see artists playing in nine Subiaco spaces from Friday, October 7 until Sunday, October 16.

Curated in partnership with See Subiaco, this year’s program will see seasoned performers and up-and-coming musicians playing in gardens, laneways, bars, and breweries across 10 days at both free and ticketed shows.

This year’s line-up is led by Katy Steele & Timothy Nelson who are collaborating for a special intimate event for just 100 people at Subiaco Hotel.

Music fans are invited to bring their own picnic blanket and drinks to Hiddlestone Lane where, under the festoon lights, they can catch some big energy roots from guitarist/singer Ben Catley, as well as music and storytelling from Savanah Soloman, Jordy Maxwell, Sash Seabourne and Darcie Haven.

Hear the best in indie-folk from Ulla, Sam Coombes and Jay Grafton at Bar Loiter, and catch soulful sounds from Della Flora & Alexia Parenzee and Olivia & Reuben De Melo at Subiaco’s newest wine bars – Bar Amelie and Lums.

Slide guitar aficionado Mikey Long is playing at El Peruvian accompanied by authentic Peruvian food, Tanya Ransom, Sam McGovern & Austin Mackay will play a special event at Little Things Gin; and Subiaco’s newest brewery – Golden West Brewery – will host Keeley Connolly & Riley Pearce.

The series closes with a garden event in Market Square Park with indie-pop band Dulcie, country faves The Little Lord Street Band, captivating four-piece King Ibis; and the fast-rising Adrian Dzvuke (pictured above), with his soulful mixture of Afrobeats, RnB and pop. With food trucks, a coffee cart, ice-cream, and pop-ups – it’s set to be an enjoyable free day out for the whole family.

Suburban Vibes was formed in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Jono and Regan Grant when they spontaneously staged Nathan Hawes in the backyard of their home after a social media call-out for an informal venue presented itself. Drawn to the personalised and intimate experience with the musicians, Suburban Vibes was born.

“We’ll be bringing our rugs and festoons to create a super cosy vibe,” said organiser Regan Grant. “Suburban Vibes is about creating a space of intimate and chilled performances from amazing musicians. We want you to immerse yourself in their music and stories and to experience these performers in a more vulnerable stripped back environment.”

Suburban Vibes hits nine Subiaco spaces from Friday, October 7 until Sunday, October 16, 2022. For more information and to buy tickets, head to www.seesubiaco.com.au
