Spiderbait celebrate thirty years of Ivy & the big apples with massive anniversary tour
Legendary Aussie rockers Spiderbait are set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1996 album Ivy & the big apples with a massive national tour, hitting Ice Cream Factory on Saturday, July 11.
The band’s Ivy & the big apples 30th Anniversary Tour is also set to hit Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney, with Melbourne punk rockers The Meanies and emerging Melbourne rockers The Gnomes joining the band onstage.
Widely regarded as a defining album in Australian alternative rock, Spiderbait’s third studio album, Ivy & the big apples, marked a major breakthrough for the band, blending punk, pop and alternative rock genres. The upcoming tour will see the band play tracks from the seminal album, including Calypso, Hot Water & Milk, and standout track Buy Me A Pony.
The band are also set to play fan-favourite tracks from across their catalogue, including Black Betty, Shazam! and Old Man Sam.
Formed in 1989, Spiderbait have released seven acclaimed albums, each achieving Gold, Platinum or Double Platinum status. Combined, their catalogue has surpassed one million sales in Australia and earned them two ARIA Awards.
Spiderbait have also shared stages with Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, and Rollins Band, securing festival slots at Big Day Out, Splendour in the Grass, and Falls Festival. The band last toured in 2024 to mark the 20th anniversary of their sixth studio album, Tonight Alright.
