Rock trio Twelve Parsecs launch Pink Noise fundraiser gig for cancer research

A powerful night of music, community and purpose is set to take over The Y HQ in Leederville this Friday, April 17, with the all-ages gig Pink Noise raising vital funds for women’s cancer research.

Presented through a collaboration between the Y WA’s Youth Squad and emerging Fremantle rock trio Twelve Parsecs, the Pink Noise fundraising gig is set to showcase an exciting lineup of young talent, including Twelve Parsecs, RetroMode, Broken Pedal and First Offence.

The new event invites the community to come together for an unforgettable night in support of a deeply meaningful cause. The idea for Pink Noise was sparked by a personal experience for members of Twelve Parsecs.

“After watching our mum go through breast cancer last year, it really highlighted how important cancer research is for so many families,” said Twelve Parsecs drummer Georgia Spowart. “We wanted to turn our experience into something positive. Music is what we know, so Pink Noise felt like the most natural way to bring people together and make a difference for others.”

In addition to live performances, attendees can look forward to a fundraising raffle supported by generous local businesses including Zero Latency, Holey Moley, Sound One, Cockburn Ice Arena and Yo-Chi, along with merchandise donated by the performing bands. Multiple prizes and bonus giveaways will be drawn throughout the night.

Youth Squad member Izzy said the event is about more than just music. “It’s about young people stepping up to make a difference. Bring your friends, bring your family and come make some noise for a really important cause. It’s going to be an epic night!”

The Y Youth Squad at HQ Leederville is a free, volunteer leadership program for young people aged 16–25. The program empowers participants to build leadership skills, create community impact, and deliver events that amplify youth voice, with weekly meetups fostering growth, connection and initiative.

Formed in 2021, rock trio Twelve Parsecs first came to attention for their rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog. After releasing two original tracks in 2023, the band won their category at the 2024 WAM Song of the Year Awards for their track The Only Thing (That Matters) before releasing their first EP with the same name in February last year.
