Review: Orchid Bloom’s Pomegranate
Orchid Bloom
Pomegranate
Independent
Pomegranate, the second track on Sydney-based artist Orchid Bloom’s debut EP Ambivalent Works, is a brief but captivating listen. Released on May 11, the track spans just over two minutes but leaves a lingering impression.
The production is restrained yet deliberate—soft synths and low-key percussion create a hazy, reflective soundscape. The vocals are low in the mix, with the line “Can you see what’s inside of me?” repeating like a quiet plea. It’s a subtle track, but one that rewards close listening.
Rather than relying on hooks or dramatic shifts, Pomegranate leans into mood and atmosphere. Its simplicity is part of its strength—allowing the textures to carry the emotion without feeling overworked or empty.
The track sits comfortably within the introspective tone of Ambivalent Works, which marks an impressive debut for Orchid Bloom. With a sound that blends ambient, indie-electronic, and lo-fi elements, this release shows clear artistic direction and emotional depth.
Short and understated, Pomegranate offers a compelling glimpse into Orchid Bloom’s evolving voice—and suggests there’s much more to come.
