Review: FKA Franky’s ‘Milli’
Continuing a steady rise in the local hip-hop scene, talented young Perth rapper FKA Franky has dropped his new single Milli.
FKA Franky has a powerful presence on his tracks and has delivered again with Milli. His memorable lyrics and strong vocals capture the song’s purpose, of whether to stay or to leave someone who continues to mistreat you.
The track opens with some chill bass sounds mixed with electric guitar tones, setting a tranquil mood for the whole song. Milli is a slower paced song than his other upbeat raps such as Bones and Achilles, both released back in 2021.
Milli builds on two more crisp and energetic tracks from 2022, Anguish and Matrix, with features from Staywell and My First Boyband.
Franky teamed up with production collective Staywell back in 2020 and has since released multiple experimental singles. With inspiration from artists such as 21 Savage, Freddie Gibbs, and Joey Bada$$, Franky produces his own punchy lyrical bars and flowing beats.
Building his craft on stage as well as in the studio, Franky is quite fresh off the Rosemount’s Four5Nine stage, after launching this new tune back on Saturday, January 28. His content expands beyond the music too, with Franky posting multiple creative Milli promo clips to instagram in the lead-up to the performance.
With the addition of Milli to an already promising catalogue of tracks, Franky’s exciting and dynamic style has us looking forward to more music as he continues to carve himself a bright future in the Australian hip-hop scene.
