Side Pony Productions and The Last Great Hunt have come together to create PICA’s new release The Irresistible, set to play from Thursday June 14 to Saturday June 24.
The performance has been described as a deeply unsettling theatrical experience, an “unrelenting exploration of unconscious bias and the often invisible assumptions we make about one another.” The Irresistible is a reckless love letter to the subconscious.
This production is presented as part of the PICA Performance Program, which acts as a critical support mechanism and catalyst for experimentation, critical analysis, discussion and debate around contemporary performance.
Some of Australia’s best artists worked with the creative team on this picture, including multi award winning composer Ash Gibson Grieg (WA), award winning Lighting Designer Richard Vabre (VIC), Designer Jonathon Oxlade (SA), winner of the 2016 AACTA Award for Best Costume Design and Sound Designer Phil Downing (NSW).
Director and Writer of the release Zoe Pepper said, “This project marks a creative leap for us. While the lead actors Tim Watts, Adriane Daff and I are long-time collaborators, this is the first time we have pushed ourselves to marry the visual aesthetic that Tim’s work is known for with the dark, complex narratives that are hallmarks of Side Pony Productions.”
The production reveals a darkly comic reflection of our world, and is told through a series of intertwining stories. Be sure to experience it yourself at PICA from Thursday June 15 until Saturday June 24.
