After multiple COVID setbacks, Lorde will finally take her Solar Power World Tour to Australia next year. On her first visit to our shores in six years, the New Zealand indie-pop star will play at Perth’s Belvoir Amphitheatre on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
This week Lorde has revealed special guests MUNA (USA) and Laura Jean (AUS) will join her on her forthcoming dates.
Released earlier this year, MUNA’s self-titled third studio album has been described as a “forceful, deliberate, dimensional output of a band who has nothing to prove to anyone except themselves.” Featuring Phoebe Bridgers, album single Silk Chiffon was an instant classic cult smash amidst the grey skies of the pandemic’s year-and-a-half mark in 2021.
Sydney songwriter Laura Jean is revered for the striking beauty of her music and the strength of her piercing, intimate lyrics. Released this year, Amateurs is the brand-new album from Laura Jean – a stunning, string-laden offering combining the deep synth-pop of Laura Jean’s previous album Devotion (2018) and the folkier sounds of her earlier work. Laura Jean has twice been shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize, has recorded with Paul Kelly, The Drones and more, and toured Courtney Barnett and Aldous Harding to name a few.
Lorde’s third studio album Solar Power debuted at the top of the Australia and New Zealand charts. Lead single Solar Power was described as “therapeutic and sedative” in our review upon its release.
