X-Press Magazine is celebrating 40 years at the forefront of Western Australia’s music and arts scene with a special event at the Astor Theatre, plus the release of a limited-edition coffee table book.
One night only!
The ‘Rewind – 40 Years of X-Press Magazine Celebration’ will bring together an unforgettable line-up of legendary local artists whose careers X-Press has championed over the decades. We will be toasting the past, celebrating the present and rocking into the future at this commemorative showcase event featuring local bands, industry legends, X-Press readers and supporters.
To be held at the Astor Theatre on Wednesday, March 18, the event will feature live performances by Kav Temperley (Eskimo Joe), Gyroscope, Donna Simpson (The Waifs), Cal Kramer (Southern River Band), Dave Hole, Dom Mariani (The Stems/ DM3), Katy Steele (Little Birdy), Dave Warner, Carla Geneve and Boox Kid.
Audiences can expect an immersive journey across four decades of WA’s vibrant music and arts scene, with stories, interviews, archival photos and footage that celebrates the magazine that has been at the heart of it all.

This commemorative book takes a deep dive into the X-Press archives to unearth the gigs, artists and stories that defined Western Australia’s vibrant arts culture from 1985 to 2025.
Promising to take readers on a trip down memory lane by revisiting the past four decades of Perth’s music scene, books can be pre-ordered now. Your copy will be available for collection at either the launch event at the Astor Theatre on 18 March 2026, or from our office at 26 John Street, Northbridge.
