Kevin Bloody Wilson is back …and still taking the piss
Australian comedy legend Kevin Bloody Wilson announces his return to Western Australia as a part of his Aussie Icons Tour. He’s touring across the state through February 2026, with shows in Kalgoorlie, Esperance, Albany, Bunbury, and Mandurah, before wrapping up at Crown Perth on February 13 and 14. The comedic musician is supported by fellow artist and daughter, Jenny Talia, who shares her own hilarious tracks. In the lead-up to his tour, BRAYDEN EDWARDS chats with him about his career and how he’s still taking the piss after all these years.
In an X-Press interview over ten years ago for your ‘First Of The Final Farewell Tours,’ you said you were going to “out-Farnham Farnham.” Do you think you’ve lived up to that all these years later?
I have a lot of respect for John and what he has achieved. Myself and every Australian wishes only the best for our Farnhsey. He still sets the standard for everyone in the music industry.
Having started out performing and recording with just a tape recorder in a pub, what’s the most unlikely or unexpected place your career has taken you?
In the early days, at the request of a Catholic nun, I actually played at a leprosarium in Derby, W.A. A couple of years later I was standing on stage at the London Palladium thinking, ‘How the hell did this happen?’
Do you remember your first time performing in Perth? What was the scene like back in those days?
The scene was on fire actually, with pubs and entertainment everywhere. I found my niche by writing and recording my own bawdy ballads. Nothing has changed.
You’ve taken your comedy shows right across the world… What’s the most obscure place you’ve come across a KBW fan?
The Leprosarium! That gig in Derby was pretty much out there.
As someone who has had their brushes with censorship and the law right from the early days, do you feel society has gotten more or less sensitive since then?
The law has certainly been relaxed, but the current WOKE movement has been around forever under different names, i.e., YUPPIES, the intelligentsia, and those easily offended who will always be there. To them I say, ‘DILLIGAF!’
What’s one thing you miss from when you started performing and one thing you don’t?
It’s nice to be able to play some of the most iconic venues in the world, including the Sydney Opera House and Nashville, Tennessee, but it is equally as important that I continue where possible to play to my outback audiences. I don’t miss the bullshit of record company executives… I wonder what they’re doing for a living now.
And is the world getting harder to make fun of? Or does it keep throwing you new inspiration for your next tune?
In my world everything, given time, can be funny! The inspiration for my next song is only a beer away!
Kevin Bloody Wilson hits multiple venues across Western Australia in February 2026. Tickets are on sale now from kevinbloodywilson.com
