Gomez bandmates Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball Bring It On with national tour

Ian Ball and Ben Ottewell, the founding members of the UK indie rock band Gomez, are set to return to Australia with their Gomez By Request tour.

The duo will bring a series of stripped-back, intimate shows to Buffalo Club on Thursday, November 6, Rosemount Hotel on Friday, November 7, and Indi Bar on Saturday, November 8.

Fans can expect to hear Gomez’s best hits from the last 25 years, including Whippin’ Piccadilly and Get Myself Arrested from their debut 1998 album Bring It On, and We Haven’t Turned Around and Rhythm and Blues Alibi from their 1999 album Liquid Skin.

The tour also gives fans the opportunity to place song requests for their chosen show, curating a unique set list that Ben and Ian will perform on the night.

Joining Gomez onstage will be the group’s longtime collaborator, LA indie-pop band Buddy, who gained recognition with their debut 2007 album Alterations and Repairs.

Formed in 1996, Gomez fused rock, folk, blues, and electronic influences, rising to prominence with their debut album Bring It On (1998), which earned them the Mercury Prize. After the band’s hiatus in 2019, Ian Ball and Ben Ottewell began working as a duo and have since toured Australia multiple times, with their last visit in 2024 to celebrate the 25th anniversaries of their Bring It On and Liquid Skin albums.

The duo’s solo careers have also seen Ben Ottewell release the three solo albums Shapes & Shadows (2011), Rattlebag (2014), and A Man Apart (2017), with Ian Ball releasing two solo albums, Who Goes There (2007) and Unfold Yourself (2013).

Ian Ball and Ben Ottewell bring Gomez By Request to Buffalo Club on Thursday, November 6; Rosemount Hotel on Friday, November 7; and Indi Bar on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Tickets are on sale Friday, June 13, from lovepolice.com.au
