Genesis Owusu brings THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE with national tour
Acclaimed Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu is set to celebrate his forthcoming third studio album, REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE, with a national tour this May.
The artist’s upcoming Red Star Wu’s Pirate Radio Tour will hit Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide before wrapping up at Ice Cream Factory on Tuesday, May 26.
Owusu’s new album, REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE, is set for release on Friday, May 15, via OURNESS. The album reflects Owusu’s experimental mix of genres, spanning neo-soul, alt-pop, synth-punk, deep funk, and Brit-rock.
Fans can expect to hear tracks from the new album onstage, including TAMPEDE, PIRATE RADIO and DEATH CULT ZOMBIE.
Genesis Owusu first gained global recognition with his 2021 debut Smiling with No Teeth, which Rolling Stone Australia ranked as #1 in its list of the ‘100 Best Australian Albums of the 2020s So Far’. Owusu then released the 2023 album STRUGGLER, with the two records together collecting seven ARIA Awards, including two Album of the Year wins.
Internationally, Owusu has shared stages with acts such as Tame Impala, Paramore and IDLES while also performing at festivals including Lollapalooza, Primavera Sound and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
