FIRE Bringing comedy, culture and koort to Blue Room

After a highly successful season at Fringe World 2021, The Blue Room Theatre and Kalyakoorl Collective will premiere their powerful First Nations work FIRE with a full-length Blue Room season this winter. The show will form part of the venue’s annual Winter Nights program, and run from Tuesday, June 22 to Saturday, July 10 at The Blue Room Theatre.

FIRE is a new female-lead, First Nations work that combines dance, poetry, song and storytelling to take audiences on a powerful journey. Written and performed by Ebony McGuire (Cloudstreet) alongside Nadia Maritich (CO_EX_EN, Bilya Kaatijin), the play is a story about love and loss, grief and sisterhood filled with comedy, culture and koort (heart).

FIRE follows the journey of two sisters, Holly and Lyss, as they learn to rebuild their fractured relationship after becoming estranged during their childhood. Jam packed with sharp humour, the nagging women must not only rediscover how to be sisters once again, but also the culture that continues to call them home.

FIRE runs from Tuesday, June 22 to Saturday, July 10 at The Blue Room Theatre. For more info and to buy tickets head to blueroom.org.au
