Empire of the Sun enter new era with fourth album Ask That God

Multi-platinum electro-pop duo Empire of the Sun will bring their new album, Ask That God, to stages across Australia this October and November.

“Australia we’re coming home,” said Luke Steele. “Empire cannot wait to see you all. Get ready, this is gonna be a wild ride as we embark on a journey unlike any other Empire has been on. New record, new show, new era, let’s go!”

The tour kicks off in Sydney and hits Melbourne and Brisbane before wrapping up with a west coast show at Perth’s Red Hill Auditorium on Friday, November 1.

The tour will celebrate the release of Empire of the Sun’s fourth studio album, Ask That God, which is due for release on Friday, July 26. It will be the duo’s first record in eight years and features the new singles Changes and Music on the Radio.

Formed in 2007 by Luke Steele from The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore from PNAU, Empire of the Sun’s seminal debut album, Walking On A Dream, spawned the iconic singles Walking on a Dream and We are the People. The group’s second LP, Ice on the Dune, featured Alive and DNA, while their third record, Two Vines, saw the band welcoming guests like Lindsey Buckingham, members of David Bowie’s band from the Blackstar sessions, and Wendy Melvoin from Prince & the Revolution.

Empire of the Sun’s success extends far beyond Australia, with their albums achieving multi-platinum certifications across the globe. In addition to their commercial triumphs, the duo has garnered an impressive array of accolades, including eight ARIA Awards, two APRA Awards, and an APRA Billions Award.

Empire of the Sun’s fourth album Ask That God is out on Friday, July 26, 2024. The Ask That God Australian tour hits Red Hill Auditorium on Friday, November 1. Tickets are on sale Thursday, May 30 from moshtix.com.au
