Belmont turns up the heat this winter with Afterdark cabaret series
The City of Belmont has announced a new pop-up cabaret venue, the Afterdark Performance Lounge at The Glasshouse, with events running from Wednesday, July 23, to Monday, July 28.
City of Belmont CEO John Christie said the event was a chance to bring world-class performances to the local stage, with the venue hosting performances from Australia’s brightest cabaret stars alongside internationally renowned talent.
“Afterdark brings outstanding live performances to our local community,” Mr. Christie said. “The Glasshouse venue will be transformed into an intimate space hosting a bold and brilliant line-up of performers.”
Sydney entertainer and actress Rhonda Burchmore (pictured) is set to premiere her new show, Tall Tales, at the Afterdark venue.
“I will be opening the vault on my 40-year career in showbiz, sharing wonderful stories and killer songs,” Burchmore said. “It’s so wonderful to see a new performance venue popping up in Belmont and engaging such an incredible line-up of fabulous cabaret stars.”
Melbourne cabaret and jazz singer Mama Alto will also bring their Transcendent show to the Afterdark stage, while Helpmann Award winner Michael Griffiths and his band are set to celebrate the songbook of Peter Allen.
Other highlights include musical duo Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, who will perform a blend of jazz and traditional Noongar music, and Perth’s dynamic jazz duo Libby Hammer and Ali Bodycoat, who will celebrate song and sisterhood onstage.
Afterdark’s performance series will conclude with Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa and A Timeless Gathering’s adult literary event, Adult Storytime.
The series will feature a fully licenced bar with food and beverage options, with City of Belmont residents receiving discounted tickets for the events.
Afterdark Performance Lounge at The Glasshouse will run from Wednesday, July 23, to Monday, July 28, 2025. Tickets are on sale now from humanitix.com
