US Punk rockers Against Me! are back on our shores in May for Australian headline tour in celebration of their new album Shape Shift With Me which was released back in September 2016.
The band are also playing at Groovin’ The Moo and as a result additional shows have been added across the country (see venue or ticket provider for more details). The tour kicks off Wednesday, May 9 in Brisbane and finishes up Friday, May 12 at the Rosemount in Perth.
Four years ago the band’s front woman, Laura Jane Grace, came out as transgender and 18 months later released the bands sixth album Transgender Dysphoria Blues. Grace began work on the album before her transition and documents the struggles she was facing. In November, 2016 Grace released her memoir TRANNY: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout which focuses on Grace’s search for her true self, identity and features never-before-seen journal entries.
Supporting Against Me! are Melbourne’s own Camp Cope who seem to have been touring non-stop which have included festival appearances and sold-out shows. Tickets go on sale Thursday, Feb 9th so if you’ve been waiting for this tour for a while now is your chance.
