Local beer giants Gage Roads are bringing a microbrewery to Fremantle’s iconic A-Shed.
In a press conference on Tuesday, WA Premier Mark McGowan revealed the historic A-Shed building, which was built in 1925 and currently used as a storeroom, will be converted into a Gage Roads microbrewery, bar/cafe, restaurant, and playground expected to be a major tourist attraction for precinct.
McGowan said “the visionary project will completely redevelop this precinct, create a tourism icon, provide a brewery and restaurant facility that people will be absolutely wowed by, and also ensure that we showcase our most exciting and high-quality beers that are brewed right here in Western Australia, right here at Fremantle Port.”
Gage Roads expressed excitement about bringing life back to such an historic part of Fremantle, stating “their name, Gage Roads was inspired by the stretch of ocean that separates Rottnest and Fremantle.”
“It’s a special place for all of us and it inspired our brewery. Now we’re proudly taking the next step and we can’t wait to bring our spiritual home to life, overlooking the stretch of water that started it all. Although there’s a heap of work to be done, we can’t wait to have you ’round for a beer in summer 2021/22.”
Gage Roads will open a microbrewery, bar and restaurant at Fremantle’s A-Shed with plans to begin trading in the summer of 2021/22.
