Yagan Square glows up for New Year’s celebrations

Yagan Square is set to ring in the new year with an exciting new tradition this summer, bringing Perth’s largest collective Wishing Wall to the heart of the city.

Running from 11am to 3pm daily from Thursday, December 19, until Saturday, December 21, the Hope and Dreams display invites visitors to write their hopes, dreams, and wishes on confetti, then watch them come to life in a Confetti Dome midnight release to celebrate the arrival of 2025.

On New Year’s Eve, the fun kicks off at 7pm, with plenty of family-friendly entertainment during the countdown to midnight. DJ Mishtee is set to bring a pumping soundtrack to get the dance floor moving, with visitors invited to ‘glow up’ with free neon face painting on the night. Fliptease performers will roam about Yagan Square on foot, roller skates, and stilts, with light-up wings, feathers, mirrors, sparkles and luminous fabrics, reflecting dazzling lighting and spectacular bubble haze effects. Comedic personality Famous Sharron will also be there to command the stage, taking Perth into the New Year with her signature sparkle.

The Yagan Square Digital Tower will become Perth’s behemoth ‘tic-toc’—the ultimate backdrop for a countdown that will culminate with the city fireworks and the inaugural Confetti Dome release.

In addition, Yagan Square venue Stories will be throwing a party of their own. The multilevel venue, recently crowned WA’s Best New Venue at the AHA WA Awards for Excellence, will throw a mini festival with an electric mix of music, creativity, and fun under the stars, from 7 pm. The celebrations will spill out into the Square’s amphitheatre, which will become a stage featuring some of Perth’s best DJs, plus there will be six unique entertainment zones, glowing up with a blacklight silent disco, UV face painting, themed pop-up bars and more.
