WAM Song of the Year 2024 winners revealed
West Australian Music (WAM) revealed the winners of the 2024 WAM Song of the Year competition at Freo.Social last night. Presented by Act Belong Commit and Healthway, the evening featured an exciting mix of emerging and established artists that reflect the diversity and talent within the West Australian contemporary music scene.
Taking out the coveted overall grand prize was Rein Mali ft. CHISEKO with their song Game of Love.
Joan and The Giants were declared runner-ups for their ‘Rock’ category winning song, Born in the Wrong Time, and ‘Folk’ category winner Good News Now We Can Eat All the Vampires were announced as the second runner-up for their song, The Miner.
The winner of the ‘Act Belong Commit’ category this year was Sofia Gale with her song Laugh. Sofia, a 16-year-old singer-songwriter from Perth, has previously received three nominations for the WAM Song of the Year awards, winning the ‘Schools 14 Under’ category in 2023.
The 2024 Song of the Year live event featured performances from nominees across diverse genres, with Boox Kid, Claudia Tripp, Drea, LUCI and MAGE hitting the stage throughout the night.
