The Vagina Monologues returns to Fremantle

Eve Ensler’s play The Vagina Monologues returns to Fremantle this year for a special six-night event at Victoria Hall from Thursday, August 29 to Saturday, September 7.

Hosted by Perth storytelling initiative Lit Live, The Vagina Monologues celebrates femininity and presents a call to action to end violence against women with an updated version for today’s audience

The dramatic and moving play won Lit Live the Fringe World Theatre Award in 2021 and returns in 2024 in collaboration with the Fremantle Theatre Company’s Indie program, featuring a new cast including Lit Live creator Sarah McNeill and local actors Alison Van Reeken and Mikayla Merks.

Based on the interviews of over 200 women, the original classic became an international sensation for its chorus of female voices and its celebration of the vagina, female sexuality and body image. Its first performance in 1996 garnered significant praise, with the New York Times reporting, “No recent hour of theatre has had a greater impact on theatre worldwide.”

A percentage of ticket proceeds will be donated to the Lucy Saw Centre, a leading advocate and refuge for women and children affected by gender-based violence in Western Australia.

The Vagina Monologues hits Fremantle’s Victoria Hall from Thursday, August 29 to Saturday, September 7, 2024. For more info and to buy tickets, head to iwannaticket.com.au
