Perth indie rock band The Reductors have just released Trouser Press, the first single from their upcoming debut album Caboose. Recorded at Poons Head Studio in Fremantle and produced by Rob Grant (Tame Impala, Lenny Kravitz, Death Cab for Cutie), the full album is due for release in October 2017.
Known for their retro guitar riffs and rocking live shows, the band draws heavily on retro, garage and postpunk influences including The Smiths, The Kinks, The Velvet Underground and Richard Hell.
Behind the catchy melodic façade, listeners are drawn into the dark world of Nixon, whose wry lyrics and poignant observations paint a musical landscape of contemporary dystopia. The bleak desperation of Nixon’s song writing is countered by the pathos and humour with which the tunes are delivered.
Trouser Press is available now on on iTunes, Spotify and Deezer.
