Sky theatre performers Groupe F bring elaborate light show to Burswood

Acclaimed French sky theatre company Groupe F will bring their latest production, From the Light Flow: Bena Koorliny, to Perth as part of the EverNow 2024 festival, hitting Burswood Park from Thursday, October 3, to Sunday, October 6.

Groupe F, known for their dramatic and large-scale performances at events like the Barcelona, Athens and Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the FIFA World Cup, will collaborate with Noongar artists and storytellers Dr. Richard Walley OAM and Alton Walley for the free event. The performance will feature elaborate light installations, flame effects, and live performances designed to highlight natural beauty and biodiversity.

Dr. Walley expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “This special collaboration is a powerful technical and artistic lens through which visitors can see and feel a deeper connection with the luminous natural world that we are so much a part of.”

Groupe F’s artistic director, Christophe Berthonneau, also expressed excitement about the event. “We hope this new work will enchant and enrich audiences, showing the many treasures and inviting contemplation of our natural world in new ways.”

The performance will be a walk-through experience lasting around 40 minutes, available from 7pm to 10pm. Burswood Park will also feature other highlights of the EverNow festival, including the Noongar performance Song Circle, while the popular Boorna Waanginy: The Trees Speak will take place at Kings Park.

EverNow, which celebrates Western Australia’s biodiversity and Noongar culture, returns this year following a successful launch event in 2023. The festival is organised by Tourism WA and produced by Perth Festival’s Special Projects, guided by the Perth Festival’s Noongar Advisory Circle.

From the Light Flow: Bena Koorliny hits Burswood Park from Thursday, October 3, to Sunday, October 6, 2024. For more info, head to evernow.com.au
