Public Enemy bring the noise to Perth

Hip-hop revolutionaries and social rights activists Public Enemy are returning to Australia this year, bringing their On the Grid 35th Anniversary Tour to Red Hill Auditorium on Wednesday, October 2.

Formed in Long Island, New York, in 1985 by friends Chuck D and Flavor Flav, the group’s first album, Yo! Bum Rush The Show (1987), established their pioneering sound by merging bold beats with hard-hitting social commentary. Initially opening for the Beastie Boys, they rose to global prominence with their second album, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (1988), accumulating numerous accolades, including induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

Their 1990 release Fear of a Black Planet produced the iconic track Fight the Power, which became a ‘Black Anthem’ across America and the world.

Fighting the power with Public Enemy across the country will be Australian hip-hop duo A.B. Original.

A.B. Original is the collaboration between artist, activist and author Briggs and MC and multi-ARIA Award winning producer Trials. Indigenous artists from Yorta Yorta and Ngarrindjeri country respectively, A.B. Original are known for their fearless address of racial, societal and systemic injustice.

Public Enemy’s On the Grid 35th Anniversary Tour hits Red Hill Auditorium on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Tickets are on sale Tuesday, July 2 from premier.ticketek.com.au
